The short answer
Three things are actually moving in marketing training this year: whether your brand shows up in AI answers, building workflows and agents instead of asking a developer, and measuring any of it. Everything else in the “AI for marketers” flood is a repackaged prompt list. Start free, and pay only where the free material runs out.

Showing up in AI search
This is the question clients started asking in 2026: when someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, does our brand come up? The honest answer is that nobody has a mature playbook yet, which makes long, expensive courses on the subject a poor bet. A short, structured one is a reasonable use of an afternoon.
Semrush Academy’s AI Search Operating System is free: nine lessons, about 37 minutes, taught by the company’s director of organic visibility and its head of academy. It works through auditing brand visibility across four layers — discoverability, clarity, authority and trust — and turning the findings into a plan with KPIs and a 90-day roadmap. There is a certificate and an exam at the end.
It is vendor training, so the workflow assumes Semrush tooling. The four-layer audit structure transfers to whatever you already use; the tool-specific steps do not.
If you want more than a framework, CXL’s catalogue now includes courses on optimising pages for AI search with GEO and on increasing visibility in AI discovery engines, which sit inside its subscription rather than being sold separately.
Building workflows and agents
The second trend is marketers building automations themselves, now that the tools speak to language models directly. Both major platforms teach this free, and the training is short enough to finish in a working day.
Zapier Academy is Zapier’s free training hub, organised as paths: a 20-minute jumpstart, a 35-minute path on connecting your apps to AI chat through MCP, a 90-minute path on building AI workflows, and a 70-minute admin track for larger accounts.
n8n Academy runs four courses — quickstart, essentials, integrations and APIs, and a practical course on AI, testing and best practices — with badges and certificates at a 70% pass mark. Most people finish the quickstart in three to five hours. n8n is the more technical of the two, which is the point: it is where marketers go when the no-code tools stop being enough.
Which one to learn follows from which one you pay for. Our guide to automation tools compares the billing models, and Zapier alternatives covers the move if you are already feeling the task pricing.
Structured AI training, free and paid
CXL has rebuilt its catalogue around AI-native marketing: live cohort workshops plus more than 80 on-demand courses, covering AI visibility and AI-era measurement, building agents that monitor campaigns and ad performance, AI competitor research, AI-ready content strategy and ABM outreach. Access is $289 a month, $549 a quarter or $1,599 a year, with live cohorts on the annual plan; teams start at $7,499 a year for 25 seats. It is the only place on this page selling a structured path through the AI shift rather than a single topic.
Google AI Essentials on Coursera is the mainstream credential: five courses, roughly eight to ten hours, $49 a month after a seven-day trial, so most people finish inside the trial or one month. It teaches practical AI use rather than marketing specifically, which makes it a reasonable baseline for a team that is starting from nothing.
HubSpot Academy’s AI for Marketing course is free — six lessons, two hours 49 minutes — and applies AI to ordinary marketing tasks. It carries no certification on its own, and, like all vendor training, it routes towards the vendor’s product.
If you want to understand the machinery rather than use it, DeepLearning.AI’s short courses cover agentic AI, the Model Context Protocol and building LLM applications. The course pages do not list prices, and the material is aimed at developers, so treat it as a stretch option rather than marketing training.
The unglamorous one: measurement
No one is trending on this, and it is still where most marketing teams lose money. AI-assisted workflows produce more campaigns, more variants and more spend, and none of that helps if the tracking underneath is broken.
Simmer teaches the technical half properly: Server-side Tagging in Google Tag Manager (€599) and Mastering GA4 with Google BigQuery (€699) are the two that change what you are able to measure, not just how quickly you can read a dashboard. JavaScript for Digital Marketers (€599) and Chrome DevTools (€199) are the debugging pair. Prices are listed in euros only.
Our marketing analytics guide covers the tools these skills sit behind.
What to skip
- “AI marketing masterclasses” sold on a countdown timer. The genuinely new material in this field is weeks old and free; anything charging four figures for prompts is selling urgency.
- Platform certifications, unless someone asks. Google Skillshop, HubSpot Academy and Microsoft Advertising all certify free, and they are badges rather than education for anyone who already runs campaigns. Take them when a partner programme, agency listing or procurement form requires one.
- Annual memberships bought for one course. If a single topic is the gap, buy the single course, or a month.
Frequently asked questions
Which marketing course is actually worth paying for in 2026?
CXL, if you want a structured path through AI-native marketing and will use it; Simmer, if your measurement keeps breaking. Everything else on this page is free and covers the same ground more narrowly.
Are free AI marketing courses any good?
The vendor ones are, within limits. They teach a real workflow end to end, which most paid AI courses do not, but the workflow always runs through the vendor’s product. Use them for mechanics and frameworks, not for deciding what to buy.
How long does this material take?
The free courses here run from 20 minutes to five hours, so the AI-search and automation basics fit into two working days. The paid options are open-ended: a CXL subscription is only worth it if you block the time, and a Simmer course is a weekend of real work.
Do these courses come with certificates?
Most do. Semrush Academy issues a certificate with an exam, n8n awards badges and certificates at a 70% pass mark, and CXL, Coursera and Simmer all certify course completion. Their value outside a LinkedIn profile is limited.
How often does this list change?
This corner of the market moves monthly: catalogues get rebuilt, prices change and new AI courses appear constantly. We check the prices and course details on each provider’s own pages and re-check them when we update the page.
